🧠 How I Instantly Got Better at Midjourney Prompts (So You Don’t Have To Read 200 Reddit Threads)

I’ve been deep in the trenches of AI image generation, trying to level up my prompting game. Spoiler alert: nobody’s cracked the code. Everyone’s just vibing. So I made this guide — for us visual thinkers who want less fluff and more output.

šŸ’ƒ The New ā€˜Animate’ Feature Is Here — Midjourney Gets Some Moves

You can now animate your Midjourney images. Yes, really. Static is out. Movement is in. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Go to midjourney.com — use the web app, not Discord. You’re welcome.

  2. Type your prompt and generate your masterpiece.

  3. Click on the image. Look at the bottom-right corner. (Yes, there.)

  4. Tap ā€œAnimateā€.

  5. Now choose:

    • Auto → Midjourney makes the moves (lazy? maybe. fun? yes.)

    • Manual → You choreograph the motion with text prompts (like ā€œpan leftā€ or ā€œzoom outā€).

  6. Set the Motion Strength to low (subtle) or high (full TikTok energy).

  7. Hit ā€œGenerate.ā€ Watch your still image come alive. Like Frankenstein, but prettier.

āš ļø Currently only available on v5.2 and earlier generations. V6 doesn’t support Animate… yet.

šŸ§žā€ā™‚ļø How to Steal Killer Midjourney Prompts Without Typing a Word

Let me tell you a secret that saved me hours and my last two brain cells:

You don’t have to write your own prompts from scratch.

Here’s the hack:

  1. Go to Midjourney’s homepage (while logged in).

  2. Use the Search bar (top left corner) like a mood board on steroids.

  3. Type a keyword: ā€œcyberpunk cat,ā€ ā€œvintage Miami,ā€ ā€œglitchcore astronaut,ā€ whatever.

  4. Scroll until you say: ā€œWhoa. I want THAT.ā€

  5. Click the image.

  6. Copy the prompt.

  7. Tweak it. Remix it. Own it.

  8. Paste it into your own prompt field and generate it.

That’s it. You’re now officially a prompt DJ. Sampling is allowed. In fact, it’s encouraged.

Final Words

This ain’t a masterclass. It’s a shortcut. You don’t need a PhD in ā€œPromptologyā€ — just curiosity, a good eye, and some sneaky tricks. Now go animate something weird.
